Welcome to The Engineer

Built in 1862/1865, The Engineer was originally called “The Bird in Hand” but has since been known as The Engineer when the railway from London to Bedford was built in 1868.

With a lively and sociable atmosphere, The Engineer boasts a main bar area, dining room, family room suitable for children and dogs, sports bar and large covered garden, garden pods and covered smoking area.

We have a wide range of lagers, cask ales, ciders and craft beers on draught. With an extensive wine, gin and spirit list too, we’re sure you’ll find something just for you here at The Engineer.

Our menu is full of classic pub dishes and we serve a traditional roast with homemade Yorkshires every Sunday.

Burnley v Fulham (Premier League)

Coverage of the Premier League match at Turf Moor. If the Clarets are to retain their top-flight status this term then home form is likely to prove pivotal, and they will see this match against the Cottagers as an ideal opportunity to pick up points given the London outfit haven't won on this ground since 1951.

Arsenal v Wolves (Premier League)

Arsenal v Wolves (Premier League)

All the action from the match at Emirates Stadium. Goals by Kai Havertz and Saka gave Arsenal a 2-0 win in last season's corresponding fixture, and the Gunners also prevailed 1-0 at Molineux later in the campaign. The Londoners have shown signs they could go one better than last season and win the title this time around, while Wolves look set for a relegation battle.

Crystal Palace v Manchester City (Premier League)

Crystal Palace v Manchester City (Premier League)

Coverage of the Premier League match at Selhurst Park. The last time these sides faced each other in a cup clash was last season's FA Cup final when the Eagles claimed a first-ever trophy in club history, with Eberechi Eze's first-half goal proving enough for them to see their named etched in history.

Sunderland v Newcastle United (Premier League)

Sunderland v Newcastle United (Premier League)

Coverage of the top-flight match at The Stadium of Light. This is the first league meeting between the North East rivals since the 2015/16 season, and the Black Cats will hope to emulate their performance in that clash having triumphed 3-0. However, the most recent encounter did see the Magpies win 3-0 here in an FA Cup tie in the 2023/24 campaign

Nottingham Forest v Tottenham Hotspur (Premier League)

Nottingham Forest v Tottenham Hotspur (Premier League)

Coverage of the top-flight match at The City Ground. Forest came out on top in both matches last season, with a 1-0 in front of their own fans coming courtesy of a first-half goal from Anthony Elanga

West Ham United v Aston Villa (Premier League)

West Ham United v Aston Villa (Premier League)

Coverage of the top-flight match at London Stadium. The Villans claimed a 2-1 victory in the corresponding clash last term, with Amadou Onana and Jhon Duran scoring in each half, either side of a Lucas Paqueta penalty that had equalised for the Hammers.

Brentford v Leeds United (Premier League)

Brentford v Leeds United (Premier League)

Coverage of the Premier League match at Gtech Community Stadium. The Bees were comfortable 5-2 winners when they last hosted the Whites here in the 2022/23 season, but both teams have seen a huge amount of changes to their squads since then, with all five goalscorers from that clash having moved to new clubs.

Manchester United v Bournemouth AFC (Premier League)

Manchester United v Bournemouth AFC (Premier League)

Coverage of the Premier League match at Old Trafford, featuring two teams who will hope to qualify for Europe this season. The Cherries have claimed successive 3-0 victories here in the last two campaigns, with Dean Huijsen, Justin Kluivert, and Antoine Semenyo all on the scoresheet last time out.
